Smannell & Enham Primary School, founded in 1873, has an important role in the history of Enham Alamein. The school archives contain photographs and documents, of great interest to former pupils and their families, which can now be incorporated into the catalogue produced as part of the EACH project.
The project will complement the children’s curricular study of their local history, allowing them to gain a better perspective on where they live, as well as valuable life skills such as communication and cooperation.
Through their involvement in collecting oral histories, they will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with older people from the community, leading to shared understanding and respect. Working in partnership with disabled clients from Enham will also provide mutual learning opportunities in bringing our shared history to life and contributing to community cohesion.
